Valentino Garavani

Another great and unique designer is Valentino, with his full name Valentino Garavani, an italian designer, born on May 11, 1932.
Valentino is a designer who has combined the couture of Paris and Italy together, using French embroidery along with Italian fabrics and workmanship. He has established himself as one of the greatest designers, with a very beautiful and feminine style.
He became interested in fashion,at age 17 while he was still in high school and moved to Paris to follow his dream. After studying at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, he starts working next to Jean Desses where he used to help Jacqueline de Ribes sketch her dress ideas. In 1959 he returned to Rome and opened a small atelier.

After being welcomed in fashion world in 1962 by presenting his first collection, “No colour” collection with models and escorts dressed in various shades of white, cream, chalk, sand, ecru and beige and becoming famous in 1969 for the ā€œVā€ logo he designed,Valentino opened his first pret-a -porter in 1969 in Milan and later in Rome.

Valentino’s dresses are more dreamy, more romantic, more youthful and impeccably made. That’s the charm and mastery of Valentino. Valentino explains that a dress should have very little detail and notes that he was focusing his design energy on creating a most perfect bias cut.

Valentino, the couturier who dressed Jackie Onassis on her wedding day, Julia Roberts and Cate Blanchett the night they won their Oscars, Empress Farah Pahlavi as she left Iran for exile and Bernadette Chirac the day her husband became president of France, presented his last ever collection in Paris in January 2008.

VALENTINO GARAVANI

Former Gucci designer Alessandra Facchinetti took over as head designer until being unceremoniously fired after her spring 2009 collection and Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, who had previously designed accessories for the label, were then named creative directors and continued Valentino’s style with a great success.
