Dolce&Gabbana, one of my favorite designers, used for their FW 2013-2014 collection the amazing Byzantine mosaics of Sicily’s Cathedral of Monreale,as an inspiration for the embellished outfits with countless individual artworks.
Models were adorned with golden jeweled crowns, rosary beads and cross-shaped earrings.
As a starting point of their  new collection Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana showed printed mosaic with gemstone details.

The show continued with a “bella figura” of double-peplum jackets and hourglass dresses, cut from a herringbone tweed.

And with a gorgeous grand finale, the designers were back at the icon worship , with a multitude of evening dresses worked in black, white and red lace, even if none of them was long.

Accessories had a element of fantasy, with crown headpieces, that were part saint, part principessa, beautiful shoes that incorporated rich papal purple or cardinal red velvet, golden cage heels with little floral buds and baroque carved platforms.

The finale was screaming “There’s no place like home” and we were back in Sicily….

Kiss&Hugs,

Cristina
